Samuel was a Lamanite prophet who was called by God to preach repentance to the Nephites (hold up Samuel puppet). After being rejected by the people, he was cast out of the city of Zarahemla. However, the Lord commanded him to return. Instead of re-entering the city through traditional means, Samuel climbed upon the city wall and began to prophesy from there. (Hold up brick wall cutout)
He warned the Nephites of their wickedness, calling them to repentance and foretelling the destruction that would come upon them if they did not change their ways. Samuel also prophesied of the birth of Jesus Christ (hold up baby Jesus puppet), giving signs of His coming, including a day, a night, and a day without darkness (hold up sun and moon puppets). He also foretold signs of Christ's death, including three days of darkness.
Many of the Nephites were angered by his words and attempted to kill him by throwing stones and shooting arrows(hold up or throw arrow cutouts). Miraculously, none of the projectiles hit him, as he was protected by the power of God. Eventually, Samuel returned to his own land after completing his message, and some of the Nephites who believed his words sought out the prophet Nephi for baptism.
