March 2-8: Steps to Stay Close to God

March 2-8: Steps to Stay Close to God

Come Follow Me Activity for Genesis 24–33

In Genesis 24–33, Rebekah shows courageous faith in following the Lord’s plan, and Jacob learns that blessings come through perseverance and trusting God. In one of the most memorable moments from these chapters, Jacob dreams of a ladder reaching from earth to heaven with angels ascending and descending. The dream reminds us that Heavenly Father is actively involved in our lives and faithful to His covenant promises.

This Jacob’s Ladder printable activity helps children visualize how we grow closer to God step by step.

Children cut out the ladder pieces and place the rungs in order while discussing gospel principles that help lead us back to Heavenly Father. Each rung represents an important step on the covenant path, including faith, repentance, baptism, taking the sacrament, keeping the commandments, and temple covenants. The activity also includes labels for Earth Life and Eternal Life to help illustrate the connection between heaven and earth.

Hands-on activities help children connect scripture stories to real-life choices. Just as Jacob saw a ladder reaching to heaven, this activity helps kids understand that following Jesus Christ step by step brings us closer to Heavenly Father and His promised blessings.

This printable is designed to be a simple and meaningful companion to the Come Follow Me Old Testament lesson for Genesis 24–33, and works well for Primary lessons, family scripture study, Family Home Evening, or Sunday quiet activities for kids.
