Come Follow Me 2026: Genesis 18–23 Primary Activity – Eternal Time Machine Printable
February 23–March 1 | Genesis 18–23
This week’s Come Follow Me 2026 reading in Genesis 18–23 teaches one of the most tender and faith-building lessons in the Old Testament: God’s timing is not our timing.
Heavenly Father sees everything. He sees before we were born, our time here on earth, and what comes after. While we experience life moment by moment, He sees the whole picture.
And sometimes, that means we have to wait.
Abraham, Sarah, and Waiting on the Lord
Heavenly Father promised Abraham and Sarah that they would have a son. The only problem? They were already very old.
From a human perspective, it seemed impossible. But Abraham trusted God’s promise, even when years passed without seeing it fulfilled. Eventually, Isaac was born. The blessing came, just not on Abraham and Sarah’s timeline.
Genesis 18–21 reminds us that God always keeps His promises, even when the waiting feels long.
For Primary children, this story opens powerful conversations:
-
What blessings are we waiting for?
-
How can we trust God while we wait?
-
How do we stay faithful when we don’t see immediate results?
Looking Forward, Not Back
We also read about Lot’s family being warned to leave their home. They were told not to look back. But Lot’s wife turned around longingly, holding onto the past instead of trusting the future God was leading her toward.
It’s such a simple moment, but such a powerful lesson.
Sometimes we miss peace in the present because we’re wishing for the past. Other times we struggle because we can’t see what’s ahead.
Abraham’s example shows us something different: trust, obedience, and faith in the future.
Free LDS Printable: Eternal Time Machine Activity

To help children understand God’s eternal perspective, this post includes a free “Eternal Time Machine” cut-and-paste activity for Primary.
The idea is simple and visual:
Heavenly Father sees our past, present, and future, almost like He has a time machine.
Children color and cut out the Time Machine pieces, then glue them onto construction paper to create their own “Eternal Time Machine.” As they build it, you can discuss:
-
Blessings God has given them in the past
-
Ways He is helping them right now
-
Future blessings they are praying and hoping for
This hands-on LDS Primary activity helps kids connect scripture to their own lives in a concrete way.
It works beautifully for:
-
Come Follow Me 2026 home study
-
Family Home Evening
-
Primary class supplemental activity
-
Old Testament printable lessons
Most importantly, it helps children understand that while we experience time one day at a time, God sees the whole story.
And because He sees the whole story, we can trust Him.
